As an Account Manager, Spencer manages the ongoing accounts of our live websites. He also works on custom development projects as requested by the owners of said websites.

Spencer is a transplant from Charlotte, NC, but has called Greenville home since graduating from Clemson in 2014. When he's not at work, you can usually find him wandering around downtown looking for a good time, or running with his dog.

What are your favorite hobbies/interests?

I have three big ones. Music discovery, lacrosse, and running.

I have a passion for finding and sharing music, and have been to more concerts than I can count.  In college I built an electronic music blog called The Hive (named after the original Hornets Stadium in Charlotte).  This was my first experience with Web Development and managing a team.  I set up the site and used Word Press as the backbone.  With a team of 7 writers and a graphic designer from Thailand, we teamed up with third party ticket sellers and were able to give away free concert tickets to our visitors.  At its peak, the website was averaging about 6k page views a day.  Ultimately, life got busy and we had to shut down the website, but I still share music on my Soundcloud page, (https://soundcloud.com/spencer-patrick), and think about starting the website back up every now and then.

I have played lacrosse most of my life.  Started at mid-field, but didn’t have enough swag for that position, so I moved to close defense and long stick middie.  From 6th to 12th grade I played lacrosse year round, received all conference 3 consecutive years, and all state my senior year.  I was also named MVP in both the Queen City Top 50 (top 50 lax players in Charlotte) and Great 38 (top 38 players in North/South Carolina) games.

I had to choose between playing lacrosse or taking college-prep architecture classes my senior year of high school. I chose architecture.  Once I got to college, I lasted about one and a half years in that major before switching to computer science. Played club lacrosse at Clemson and a few games in Greenville, but haven’t been as active as I was in high school.

My third passion is for running.

Running around has always been a big part of my life whether it’s during sports or just outside. It’s a great stress reliever and a great way to explore new areas.  It became a necessity once I got a dog and was one of the few ways I could get him calmed down for a couple of hours.  I’ve participated in many 5k’s, a few 10k’s, and would like to do a half marathon in the near future.  The Swamp Rabbit 5k is next up on my list in a couple weeks.

What types of music do you listen to?

Electronic and hip hop/rap are my favorite genres of music. I still listen to rock every now and then too.  In highschool, I mostly listened to southern rock. Widespread Panic was my go-to band in my later years of high school. When I was a freshman in college, I went to the All Good Music Festival, and there was some guy named Bassnectar playing at the end of the first night.  It blew my mind that this stuff existed – I have been hooked ever since.

Do you have any pet peeves?

My dog Rocky. He can be a real a**hole.

What accomplishment are you most proud of?

My typing speed is impeccable. I once typed 96 words per minute on the computer.  Definitely the greatest accomplishment of my time on this Earth so far. I should've been a 1960s-era secretary.Spencertypingspeed.png

What is one thing you couldn't go a day without?

Parties. I like to have a good time!

How would you describe yourself in 3 words?

Down. To. Funk.

What's your favorite thing about working at Website Pipeline?

The people for sure, and the laid back/joke-around atmosphere. Nobody takes anyone too seriously, and yet everyone gets their job done (for the most part).

What is your life motto?

"Security", a short essay by Hunter S. Thompson.

What TV or movie character would you be if you could choose?

Bob Ross. That guy is high on life. Who wouldn’t want to be that happy all the time?

What programming languages are you fluent in?

SQL, Javascript, HTML, CSS, PHP, and Java.

What is your favorite programming language?

I’m a fan of SQL. The syntax and relational logic makes the most sense to me.  It’s also a great language to know if you need to pull information from a large chunk of data.
